A dazzling line-up of stars came together with King Charles, 75, at St James’s Palace for the first King’s Foundation Awards, which support holistic and sustainable living approaches in today’s challenging world. As well as footballer David Beckham, 49, and `singer Sir Rod Stewart, 79, the event on Tuesday, 11 June was attended by a number of other celebrity supporters, including broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh, former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, model Naomi Campbell and actress Sienna Miller.
As a campaigner for the environment for over five decades, the King has spoken out on green issues from climate change to deforestation. And being a supporter of sustainable living projects to safeguard the planet, these awards follow his principle that we should “work with nature, not against it”.
The inaugural winner of the King Charles III Harmony Award was former UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, who played a key role in securing the Paris Climate Agreement and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, while also being a strong advocate for the creation of UN Women.
