BEFORE his Oct. 28 death, Matthew Perry was open about his struggles with addiction and multiple stints in rehab. “I’ve lived half my life in one form or another of treatment center or sober living house,” he wrote in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. Later, the 54-year-old told The New York Times in June 2023 that he was 18 months clean, reflecting that it was a day-by-day process. “I’m capable of staying sober,” he mused. “Unless anything happens.”
