Colton Talks Marriage, Fatherhood & the Future

Colton Underwood’s life couldn’t look more different than when he was on The Bachelor — and he wouldn’t want it any other way.

“Looking back, I stayed in the closet because I didn’t really see a path to becoming a dad as a gay man,” the former football player, 32, told Us while promoting his partnership with parenting tech brand Nanit. Now Underwood and husband Jordan C. Brown are proud parents to son Bishop, who they welcomed via surrogate in September. “It’s just truly a dream come true.” Here, the new dad updates Us on his life now.

Tell Us about your journey to start a family with Jordan.

The fertility [process] was very emotional. There were a lot of starts and stops, a lot of getting your hopes up and getting let down. It was a two-and-a-half-year process, so that journey was a battle. [But] once [Bishop] was in this room, I never expected to feel the love I felt.
