Try as she might to be upbeat as she promotes the fifth and final season of hit show The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Marin Hinkle is feeling bittersweet about the end of its run. “Actually it’s not sweet at all,” she tells WHO over Zoom from Los Angeles. “It’s just bitter. I’m so sad, it’s so hard. Something that was this magnificent in my life, that has brought me so much joy as an artist but also connected me to the past, and to a strong character and to this group of actors and to [showrunners] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] and Dan [Palladino], it’s really hard to find good in it ending. It’s been hard for me and I think I’m in denial.”
So deep is Hinkle’s unwillingness to say goodbye to the series, in which she plays Rose Weissman, mother to Rachel Brosnahan’s titular character, Miriam “Midge” Maisel, that she is yet to watch the final episodes. “If I get all the way through, then it’s done, so I may never see the whole season because I don’t want it to be over.”
