Revisiting a character you last played as a teen is something not many actors get to do. For Winona Ryder, that opportunity came in the form of a Beetlejuice sequel, released over 35 years after the original. With any connection to the past, it’s normal for memories and feelings to pop up – and, in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Ryder, 52, said she has found parts of her younger self in her now grown-up and widowed character, Lydia Deetz.
“In my thirties, I had two disastrous relationships that were – they weren’t wrong, but this was before you would ever think to Google someone," she said. "When I look back, I'm like, 'What the hell was I thinking?' I was dating the type of person who only lets you know a few weeks in that they're in a relationship with someone else.
