Manoj Paramahamsa, a prominent cinematographer, honed his craft at the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai under the tutelage of the renowned S. Saravanan. He began his journey in the industry as an assistant on several Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil films, such as Pammal K. Sambandam, Arasatchi, Priyamana Thozhi, Madhurey, Thirupaachi, and Thirupathi. After seven years of apprenticeship, Manoj transitioned to an independent cinematographer.
His debut came with the film “Eeram”, directed by Arivazhagan and produced by the esteemed S. Shankar. His groundbreaking work on “Eeram“ earned critical acclaim, with Sify applauding his innovative use of a hazy blue aesthetic to evoke an eerie atmosphere, and Rediff praising his refreshing and serious camerawork.
In 2010, Manoj collaborated with Gautham Vasudev Menon on the romance film “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa” and its Telugu remake “Ye Maaya Chesave”. His exceptional cinematography on “Ye Maaya Chesave “ garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer - South. He also showcased his talent in Menon’s psychological thriller “Nadunisi Naaygal” and the Tamil remake of “3 Idiots”, “Nanban”, directed by S. Shankar.
