An alumna of MIT, Dr Somdutta Singh is well-prepped to be the indomitable figure she is in the worlds of entrepreneurship, investment, and innovation. Having honed her skills through prestigious programmes at Harvard Business School OPM and the Columbia University President's Program, she became an angel investor at just 25 years of age, and went on to achieve two highly successful multi-million dollar exits, the first one being when she was 26. Today, her investment portfolio boasts more than 50 global start-ups, and her many achievements and accolades stand testament to her prowess.
Dr Somdutta's company, Assiduus Global Inc., her third entrepreneurial venture, is a leading e-commerce accelerator. In 2022, Assiduus Global had helped Fortune 500 companies and SMEs across 20+ countries generate over $300 million in revenue. She is relentlessly working to transform the company into a billion-dollar revenue-generating enterprise by 2025 and become the first woman of Asian descent to take her company public through an IPO on global stock exchanges including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Her fiancé, Magnus Tuxen, is the legal counsel for and a board member at Assiduus. The duo is set to tie the knot in March this year.
Dr Somdutta's talents extend beyond the boardroom; she is a celebrated author with two best-selling books to her name - Decoding Digital: Unlocking Digital Barriers and Stories from New India: Policies, Hope And Change. She is also a trained Indian classical singer, an amateur golfer, and a combat training and kickboxing enthusiast.
We spoke to Dr Somdutta about her inspiring journey. Excerpts from the interview:
What does it take to be a leader?
I'd like to begin with one of Swami Vivekananda's most powerful quotes. He has brilliantly said, All power is within you; you can do anything and everything. Believe in that.'
