THE BRITISH ACTRESS CONTINUES HER STRING OF SUCCESSES WITH HER LATEST SERIES, HARRY WILD, AND SAYS THAT AT 73, SHE'S HAPPIER THAN EVER

Before Jane Seymour takes on a new project, she runs it by one of the most trusted members of her inner circle: her 11-year-old granddaughter Willa Mighty. "I have her read scripts that I get offered and books I'm reading to option for a movie," Seymour, 73, says. "I did option a book, which I love, called The Truth About Horses. She told me exactly what was good and which character she wanted more of, and then she remembers it, which is also handy because at my age, you remember it as long as you need to, and then it disappears."

The British actress has never subscribed to outdated age strictures, though. At 42, after playing a Bond girl in Live and Let Die and appearing on Battlestar Galactica, she starred on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman as the titular doc for six seasons and a pair of TV movies.

Since then the mom of six has had memorable turns on Smallville and The Kominsky Method and in Wedding Crashers, and she now stars as Harry Wild, a retired literature professor turned detective, on Acorn TV's cozy crime drama Harry Wild, which kicked off its third season in May. "Apart from Hacks, I'm the only woman my age who has her own show," Seymour says, referring to Jean Smart's comedy series on Max.
