Gary Oldman and the Slow Horses team will be hoping to celebrate in September when the Apple TV+ spy thriller goes up against the likes of Shōgun, Fallout and The Crown for Outstanding Drama Series at the 2024 Emmys.
The darkly funny series has nine nominations, the first since it debuted in 2022, including acting nods for Oldman and Jack Lowden, who play demoted MI5 agents Jackson Lamb and River Cartwright.
As the series returns for a fourth season this week, Sir Jonathan Pryce takes centre stage, as David Cartwright – River’s retired grandfather and a master spy of the Cold War era – slowly slides into dementia and becomes paranoid that he’s being hunted by hostile agents.
