A lmost 18 months after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, Paul Foreman slips away, and it’s utterly devastating for his husband Billy, not least because Paul’s final hours don’t go quite the way he’d envisaged.
Having become Paul’s full-time carer, Billy has had little opportunity for any downtime, but he was persuaded last week to have a night out in town with David and Kit. Waking up somewhat green around the gills, the vicar panics to realise he has lost his phone. Aside from the fact that it’s full of precious photos, he needs to be contactable 24/7, given Paul’s condition.
‘Bernie’s at the flat, as is Summer, so Billy decides to go out and retrace his steps,’ reveals Daniel Brocklebank, who plays him. ‘He finds David, although David can’t remember much of the night before either.
‘He kisses Paul goodbye, rather flippantly, and has no idea of what’s to come.’
