Shweta Kapur’s label, 431-88, has always been synonymous with innovative design and an effortless blend of modernity and tradition. Her latest collection, “PLAY,” is no exception. Inspired by the Olympics, movement, and the inherent discipline of athletes, Kapur’s collection is about living life to the fullest. As she puts it, “The 431-88 girl is always on the go, and PLAY is about literally dressing her while she’s on the go.”
A standout piece in this collection is the Cutwork Godet Saree, a garment that perfectly encapsulates the collection’s ethos of freedom and versatility. “The idea behind this piece was... a saree that you can run and move in, and not worry about where the pallu is going, where the pleats are going,” Kapur explains. This saree, adorned with a laser-cut detail on the pallu, offers a fresh departure from the brand’s previous work. The laser cut gives it a unique textural element, blending traditional motifs with a contemporary look.
