WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT... FINDING JOY through FOOD

Whenever I ask people to tell me about their favourite food, they close their eyes and I can see them tasting it on their tongue before they say what it is. As they talk about the food memory, it often becomes less about the food and more about family and home. Those two things are incredibly political – whether you’re First Nations or not – because those are the things that make us human.

The past couple of years have been really difficult. We’ve been put in situations where people have had to be alone, where there’s been financial and emotional hardship, so to have these memories of food is so important.
