"ART IS ANYTHING YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH." This was Andy Warhol's inciting sentiment. Like a master painter wielding a paintbrush or a photographer picking up his camera, generative AI has become a tool for self-expression and creative exploration.
Delving into her own use of art and fashion as instruments for conveying ideologies, Miuccia Prada once explained, "If I were a doctor, I would use the available science. They are instruments of knowledge used to make ideas available." While sentiments may be polarizing, there's no denying that art, fashion, and science coalesce and progress in new and exciting avenues through the instrument that is AI.
With generative AI, anyone can have the incredible ability to create new content based on any prompts they choose to input. In other words, whatever the mind can conceive, AI can achieve. Who can resist the lure of that temptation? Forget the pen because you won't need to put it to paper. Type an idea and be held spellbound by the ways in which AI transforms your words into imagery, instantly.
For AI artists Christian Otto and Nastassja Abel of digital design studio Serifa, accelerated ideation, economical exploration, and infinite expression are just some of the creative advantages of AI.
"For us, it was very important to determine how we can use AI as a tool to express our own style," Nastassja shares. The art from artificial intelligence is authentic to the artist, rooted in their own history, in the ideas born out of their personal experiences, in the emotions they wish to share. AI challenges them to deeply recognize their artistic identity, articulate their style, and open their creative eyes to entirely new horizons that they could never envision on their own.
