Gravity, they say, is not a force. Apparently not as weight is a force and weight = mass x gravitational accelerations. It would thus be that Force = mass x gravitational acceleration. The thing with gravitational accelerations, 9,8m/s², is that it is ever present.
The force that we are experiencing is directly related to our mass and the force keeping us from meeting up with the centre of the earth. The earth's surface resists this 'G' acceleration towards the centre of the earth and in equalling this centre seeking acceleration, the forces are in balance. This would make the force one and as we experience it, our weight. When flying straight end level, we do not experience the resistance of earth's surface, but the pressure on the seat we are sitting on. The actual ground resistance force is now replaced by lift created by the wings. As weight is a force and lift an opposing force of equal strength, the nett result is one. Anti-gravity, or the opposite of gravitational attraction, can mean a repulsion force of the same magnitude and awesome if one could make it much larger at will.

Maputo airshow 2024 What a treat!
On Sunday 16 June Christine and I returned from attending the Maputo airshow and what a fantastic experience this was not only for estimated 15 000 spectators, but also the members of the media present.
