We all know how to W breathe, right? Wrong. We may inhale and exhale more than 20,000 times a day, but Rebecca Dennis, breath expert and author of Let it Go: Breathe Yourself Calm,* says we've lost our natural ability to breathe fully. Why? Because from an early age, we're taught how to control our feelings and emotions and, as a result, our muscles tighten and our breathing patterns become restricted.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
'Breath is more powerful than you think,' says Rebecca. 'Oxygen is the most essential natural resource required by our cells.' We can go without food for 40 days, water for three days, but we can die after just a few minutes without air.
