Reclaimed grain silos receive a stunning transformation brimming with thoughtful details, lots of love and a big mission.

Kayla White first had the word "silos" come into her mind while she and her husband, Dennis, were praying on and planning their vision for the year. At the time, she had no idea what it meant, and little could she have imagined that within five years, the couple would be celebrating the grand opening of The Silos at Promise Manor: two charming vacation homes nestled in farmland just outside of Lynchburg, Tennessee.

"From the time God laid this vision on my heart, [The Silos] have always set themselves apart to be a place where others can slow down, take in the beauty of His creations, and enjoy company with each other while also immersing themselves in the land," Kayla says.

DECORATING DETAILS

Here are Kayla's tips for finding the perfect decorative items, whether you're refreshing your primary home or furnishing a vacation home.

• GO ANTIQUING. Looking for that extra burst of charm or character that big retail chains can't offer? Find a piece with history-literally. "We search out pieces with a story," says Kayla. "We bought the majority of items at antique stores throughout Tennessee."

• SHOP LOCAL. Finding pieces made or collected by local artisans is a great way to tap into the overall story of where you live. "We are blessed to have two local stores where I purchased many items: The Perfect Picker in Lynchburg and The Shops at Main and McGrew in Shelbyville."

• BE SPECIFIC. Shop in specialty stores that carry specific items, especially if you're in the market for something unique. "The cowboy hats and antique children's chaps came from a fun store my friend's mother owns called Poppi Vernon in Wimberley, Texas," Kayla says.
