Stepping inside this penthouse condominium apartment in River Valley feels like arriving in a stately luxury hotel suite. It is precisely the feeling that the homeowner Kenneth, who lives in the apartment with his partner, and interior designer Adrian Heng of SpaceOne Interior Design Consultancy aimed for. "It's glamorous and timeless, with some bling, modern and art deco elements. But it's not over the top, and it's just right for entertaining," describes Adrian, who met the client through a friend's recommendation.
The 10-year-old freehold apartment originally had two bedrooms, a study and an empty upper deck. Today, it houses one master suite with a walk-in wardrobe, a handsome reading corner, an uninterrupted view that runs the length of the living space, and an entertaining room on the upper deck with an alfresco dining room fit for a luxury soiree.
Kenneth and Adrian replaced all the surface finishes with a cohesive material palette dominated by dark colours. The spatial layout was also tweaked to facilitate a smoother flow. A feature wall finished in dark, large-format marble-look tiles from Hafary welcomes visitors arriving from the main entrance.
All the interior doors are made flush with its walls and camouflaged with the same finishes to create a clean look that highlights its stately 3.6-metre ceiling height. The main entrance looks flush with the panelled wall that displays black and white photos of Kenneth’s wedding. The kitchen and master suite doors are integrated into the sleek storage wall, finished with black Aptico anti-fingerprint laminates from EDL that also doubles as the TV wall.
