A NATURAL WONDER

Two creatives were able to show their flair for curating vintage finds, art and their own designs in this marvellous Mallorcan apartment

A NATURAL WONDER

With an eye for the distinctive and a knack for spotting potential, Edin and Lina Kjellvertz have created a unique experience in their brand Dusty Deco. Their business began in Stockholm 10 years ago, small scale, with their own personal collection. Edin and Lina, who both started in the fashion industry, at H&M and Acne respectively, have always loved buying things, becoming regulars at flea markets, sourcing vintage items to fill their home, which resulted in renting out storage space when it overflowed. This gave birth to the motto ‘one thing in, one thing out’, which has allowed them to continually refresh and expand what has become an impressive inventory.

Five years ago, the now family of four left Stockholm and took a chance on an old family palazzo in Palma, Mallorca, which had not been updated since the 1970s. In a narrow back street in the northern part of the Old Town, they discovered this 18th-century gem. The apartment is accessed through an iron gate at street level, which leads through an impressive stone arch and staircase leading above the street. The 600sq m apartment, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, shutters and French balconies, was the perfect project to create a showcase for the brand. As Edin explains, ‘Although it’s our showroom, we wanted to create something that felt like a home.’ The family even moved in while renovating their current home in El Fortì, 10 minutes’ walk north, while clients have the option of staying in the apartment’s bedroom.
