HOW TO... Save money and reduce debt
Frequently asked questions...
How do I know if I'm eligible?
There are plenty of online tools to check your credit card eligibility. Head to money saving expert.com, money super market.com or compare the market.com for a 'soft search'. You'll get a good idea instantly of whether you'd be accepted without having to actually apply, which could affect your credit report.
Should I use my credit card when I'm on holiday overseas?
Yes, absolutely. They are really handy when you're abroad, and you can use them to withdraw cash at an ATM or to get local currency. If your card is stolen or lost while away, report it as soon as you realise as it can then be suspended and replaced without you losing any money. Check any fees and restrictions before you head off and consider applying for a card with no foreign transaction fee. Before you go, let your card issuer know your travel plans and ask for a freephone number that you can call while overseas if needs be.
