BIG MOVES
August Man SG|Issue 204
Farah Farz, one of the most prolific and dynamic room shakers in the Singapore clubscape, is this month's AUGUSTWOMAN.

BIG MOVES

FARAH FARZ WIELDS two lethal weapons. One, her infectiously versatile musicality that is as nimble as it is prodigious in scale, and the other, the winking glint in her queenly regard. To have an in-person conversation with her is to receive wisdom enriched by the patina of experience and a thoughtful perspective laced with irresistible playfulness.

She is an established artist-DJ-producer-model whose varied endeavours coalesce into a single beam of worldbuilding energy. There’s a continuity in her ardour that is instantly recognisable. But as with all hard-won achievements, none of it came easily.

Farah takes us on a stirring trip through her life, times, and tunes after expertly navigating the vagaries of taste and trends for 10 years and emerging as the glimmering lodestar of her own destiny.

When did you realise that music mattered to you and what is your current relationship with it?

My mum had me when she was 25. She was a cool young mother. She taught me about progressive house, hip-hop and R&B. I was raised around so much good music, it was only natural that I developed a passion for DJing. Early on, I had an open mind about different sounds and saw all genres as equal.
