ASK ANY SIX-YEAR-OLD to draw a sports car and it will most likely have two doors, and shaded in red. It will also be a dead ringer for the head–turning, all-new Mercedes-Benz CLE200 Coupé.

No one does two-door coupés better than the Germans. My bedroom was filled with classic German models from the 1980s and 1990s, like the BMW 3 series coupé and the gorgeous Mercedes-Benz 300CE.

Having dreams of owning one in their childhood, petrolheads will always desire such a a two-door at some point in their lives. How practical is it, though? We tested the Mercedes-Benz CLE200 for three days and two nights.

First Impressions

It combines classic good looks with modern design and ticks all the right boxes style-wise. It embodies typical features, including a long bonnet embedded in the front end with two powerful power domes, a steep sloping windscreen, and a long, sloping roof towards the rear.

If you are familiar with the Mercedes-Benz line-up, you will notice that the CLE moniker is new, and that this coupé sits larger than the old Mercedes-Benz C class coupé but looks more athletic than the old E class.
