THE NEW IPAD PRO and iPad Air just hit stores this month, seeing substantial leaps in the processor and display screen. In fact, the latest iPad Pro features the M4 processor, something that’s yet to make it into Apple’s laptops. This begs the question, will tablet computing be the future and someday overtake laptops?

For the time being, no. Despite recent advances, the iPad is still designed to be a companion to the MacBook and not a replacement. But as computing power grows and more day-to-day tasks are easily relegated to the iPad, it’s not hard to imagine a tablet-centric future. Here are a few kinks that can be worked on for a laptop-less future.
