The Rings of Power, the prequel to The Lord of The Rings, does a spectacular job of showing once-flourishing Mordor
Most times, a prequel doesn't make sense. A sequel, sure. Who doesn't want to know what comes after? But an entire series or movie to justify the plot of another one? Why?
There are exceptions. Young Sheldon (2017) did a fine job setting up, belatedly, Sheldon Cooper's geeky character in The Big Bang Theory (2007-2019).
But only a few quit while they're ahead. Watch out for these clichés when a prequel next plays out on screen.
