With some of the landmark recent movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Shahid (2013), The Lunchbox (2013), Monsoon Shootout (2013), and Masaan (2015) to her credit, Guneet Monga, the founder and CEO of Sikhya Entertainment, is not only one of the most interesting and prolific producers of the Hindi film industry but also undoubtedly one of its biggest trailblazers. She was an executive producer on the Best Documentary Short Oscar-winner 2019 film Period. End of Sentence, and this year, will feature at the 2023 Oscars with The Elephant Whisperers, a short film nominee for the Documentary Short Film category.
But it is not her impressive work profile that has brought me to her house in Andheri on a lazy Sunday morning. I am here for a love story — the one that she had given a teaser of on one of her Instagram posts a few months back, following up with some gorgeous wedding pictures of the same. On December 12, Guneet got married to Delhi-based businessman, Sunny Kapoor, in a Sikh Anand Karaj ceremony. Their’s is a love story that can put even the best of Bollywood rom-coms to shame –– but then, it was a Bollywood love story, DDLJ to be precise, Guneet had always had her heart set on.
