TRACKING TIME FIVE ICONIC WATCH BRANDS LOVED BY INDIAN CELEBS

ROLEX

In 1926, Rolex introduced the first waterproof watch, the Oyster, worn by Mercedes Gleitze while swimming the English Channel. In 1931, they patented a self-winding movement, adding 'Perpetual' to the name. Over the years, it gained legendary status and remains a top luxury timepiece. In 2016, Rolex launched the 39 mm Oyster Perpetual with various coloured dials. In 2020, they released more brightcoloured dials inspired by the 1970s DayDate models, including coral red, candy pink, turquoise blue, green, and yellow. Indian celebs particularly love turquoise blue, red, and pink.

Cricketers Virat Kohli, Mahindra Singh Dhoni, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma all love the 41 mm turquoise blue Oyster Perpetual, with actor Harshvardhan Kapoor preferring the smaller 36 mm version. Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt was seen with a green-dial version, while Virat Kohli has been spotted with multiple Rolex watches including the Cosmograph Daytona, Submariner, and more.
