I gave my husband A KIDNEY'

Linda and Laurie Hindom have done a lot in the 34 years they’ve been together. However, they aren’t any ordinary couple.

Earlier this year they shared a podium – and gold medals – at the World Transplant Games, after Linda donated one of her kidneys to Laurie in order to save his life.

“I wouldn’t be here without Linda,” says Laurie, 61. “And I certainly wouldn’t be winning gold medals.”

Laurie has polycystic kidney disease, a rare genetic disorder that reduces life quality and expectancy. When his condition worsened several years ago, it was clear he needed a transplant. His doctor suggested seeing if Linda was a match so she could donate one of her kidneys.
