Of Fame And Oddity

DAVID BOWIE—THE man, the legacy, the resume—is a monument. Long is his shadow over every facet of popular culture and longer still will his name be sung through the ages. So it is thoroughly refreshing that the fable of Bowie has received a refreshing update that celebrates him in a heartwarmingly new way.

David Bowie: Rock ’n’ Roll With Me is a new photographic memoir by the singer-songwriter’s childhood friend and composer, producer, dancer and musician Geoff MacCormack, known also by the moniker, Warren Peace. It chronicles a friendship from primary school to Bowie’s ascent to one of the most boundary-blasting artists in the history of creative expression, and ends with his passing. From life on the road to just life, MacCormack’s photographs affirm the poignant moments shared by a man venerated by the world but, to those in his innermost circle, was first and foremost, a dear friend.
