THE DELIGHT is in the detail

Anyone who’s ever been on a game drive knows the initial thrill that you experience when you start driving out for a few hours of undoubted excitement. Here, it’s no different, except, unlike the stark beauty of the Kruger, you’ll be greeted with the diverse landscapes of the Klein Karoo. Mountains and peaks tower over you as you wind your way through gorges and canyons, as well as thick, indigenous plant life of which the renosterbos takes centre stage.

The nature drives are simply beautiful, and while you’ll be fully emerged in nature, you’ll also learn a thing or two about how an effort is being made to keep it just so. That said, this is a place where eco triumphs ego. Where nature is most important, and where you’ll feel small, humbled and grateful to even be here. That is the magic of White Lion Lodge.

AT THE HEART OF CONSERVATION

The entire Sanbona reserve, as well as White Lion Lodge, plays a key role in the conservation of the fauna and flora in this area. Their aim is to restore an ecosystem that closely resembles what it would have been like 300 years ago when the early San inhabitants lived here. The region’s biodiversity is therefore incredibly important and is protected in such a way that visitors can look forward to not only being educated on these conservation methods, but also get a frontrow seat to the beauty that it holds.
