KANDY UNWRAPPED
Tell us about your family heritage. I’m American from Mexican descent. What do you love most about the town in which you grew up? I love that it’s a small town, with that small-town charm. A lot of friendly people, and everything is a little slower pace. It’s nice to be able to stop and smell the roses.
What word would your childhood best friend use to describe you?
She might say wild, but I think she means “passionate”.
We noticed you have a keen interest in boxing. Is this primarily an exercise regimen or do you box or plan to box in the ring?
I’ve been a big fan or boxing since I was a kid and would always watch the pro fights. I just decided to try it out one day, and absolutely loved it. I’ve been training for a couple of years, and sparring. It definitely keeps me in shape as a workout, but my goal is to do some amateur fights. I like being the underdog and underestimated. I don’t look like your typical boxer, so people think I can’t fight. I like to prove them wrong.
November means Thanksgiving. What is your Thanksgiving part?
My contribution to Thanksgiving is usually the desserts. I help make the pies. I make a delicious rustic apple pie.
What are your 5-year goals?
