Right from its founding by philanthropist-industrialist Sir Shri Ram in 1926, SRCC has remained a leader in its field. Students who secure a seat here have an edge over competitors for an entry into the corporate world. “A degree from here is a gateway to greater ventures,” says Simrit Kaur, principal, Shri Ram College of Commerce.
For renewed focus on their area of expertise, the college has come up with a five-fold framework—erudition, enrichment, expansion, empowerment and environment. Erudition has long been a tradition here, propelled by a drive to integrate new paradigms in academics. A large number of books for nearly all subjects in commerce have been written by faculty members. This kind of open and democratic engagement of thought and expression leads to students developing a keen appreciation of the discipline. The college also encourages students to think out of the box and go beyond the curriculum. It believes in proactive action to broaden existing horizons of learning and enriching the curriculum. “We hold a large number of lecture series, speaker sessions and workshops from faculty, alumni, experts and leaders on contemporary and emerging topics,” says Kaur.
Academia-industry, academia-academia and institution-alumni interactions allow students/ faculty to engage with prominent personalities from the world of domain scholars, the corporate world, politics, sports and arts. “I really enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life in college. The guest lectures were the most inspiring and informative,” says alumnus Ujjwal Sharma, who now works as a business analyst at Paytm. Some of the institutions that have collaborated with SRCC recently are RBI Academy, ICLS Academy and the World Bank.
