The right doctor or surgeon can make a huge difference to a patient's quality of life and their ability to continue living healthily with a minimal medical burden. This ranking of America's Best Specialists and Surgeons 2024 recognizes the top doctors working to help patients through some of the most daunting medical procedures. It lists the country's best spinal surgeons, vascular surgeons, prostate specialists and plastic surgeons, all of whom were ranked in collaboration with data intelligence platform Statista. The doctors collected here were chosen via the results of a comprehensive online survey with medical experts conducted in March and April. Each doctor's certifications were also considered. For the lists recognizing spinal and vascular surgeons and prostate specialists, an evaluation of the physician's performed procedures was also included via Medicare data provided by analytics platform CareJourney. For all four of the individual rankings, the results focused only on physicians working in the 20 states with the most doctors. Each of these four areas of specialization are highly in demand. For example, statistics show that the annual number of plastic surgery procedures in the U.S. has doubled since 1997. And about 1 million patients annually undergo surgeries on their spine to help treat chronic back and neck pain, while vascular surgeons will perform about 100,000 operations on blood vessels this year. There will be nearly 300,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the U.S. this year, all of which will require the attention of a specialist. For patients seeking treatment in these areas, and for the industry professionals who will be helping them, this ranking provides invaluable information on the best doctors to partner with on the journey to a healthy, pain-free lifestyle.

PARTING SHOT: Alan Cumming
AFTER THE MASSIVE SUCCESS OF THE TRAITORS LAST YEAR (STREAMING now on Peacock), host Alan Cumming knew this third season had to be bigger. “There was a pressure to not just repeat ourselves, it actually upped the ante.” And they did just that, with a more explosive cast and even wilder twists. “It is bigger. I’m sort of a cult leader. I’ve gone from just a dandy lord of the manor in his castle to official cult leader. I’m fine with it.” Cumming hosts a castle full of reality TV stars who all play a game of murder in the hope of winning upward of $250,000. But Cumming says their TV background has little to do with their success on The Traitors. “Everybody has this sort of myth that you have to be in one of those gamer shows to do well at this game, and it’s not true. Sometimes it’s actually good to have better social skills.” Last year, Cumming’s Emmy win ended RuPaul’s historic 8-year winning streak for RuPaul’s Drag Race. “I saw Ru and I went up to him and I just went, ‘I am so sorry.’ And he just went, ‘Con-drag-ulations.’ And I was like, ‘He said it!’” [laughs]
