Two workers, one an underage boy, lost their lives in a gas leak at Devi Synthetic Pvt Ltd in the Narol Industrial area. Of the seven workers who were affected, four are said to be in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the LG Hospital. The deceased were identified as Luv Kush, 17, and Kamal Kumar, 25. DCP Zone-6 Ravi Mohan Saini said, "Preliminary investigations revealed that the spent acid, commonly used in the printing and dyeing industry, was being transferred into a tank when the workers nearby were affected."We received information around 11:30 am regarding the toxic gas leak, and rushed the affected to the LG Hospital where two have sadly died."Meanwhile, teams from the Forensic Department, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), and factory inspectors arrived at the site to conduct further investigations.DCP Saini further said, "It is evident that the factory lacked essential safety equipment, indicating negligence on the part of the owner. We will also check the last inspection date for Devi Synthetic Pvt Ltd by factory inspectors and GPCB officials."Other affected workers have been identified as Mafuz Ansari (42), Mahendra (50), Ishaad Khan (25), Mangal Singh (56), Ashok (56) and Malji (59). All are residents of the Narol GIDC area.
