Amidst the Diwali festivities, liquor sales in Ahmedabad have shot up by over 15% compared to last Diwali, despite a price hike. With the onset of winter, the festive season, and long holidays, the city's thirst for liquor is strong.
Compared to regular months, sales and demand for liquor this month (particularly in the past two weeks) have surged by 25% due to festivities and an increasing number of house parties, according to hoteliers with liquor shops in the city.
Prakash Daultani, owner of The Metropole Hotel, managed by The Fern Residency, said, "There's a decent jump of 15% in liquor sales this Diwali compared to last Diwali.
Moreover, compared to previous months, liquor sales this month have risen by around 25%." He added, "This may be due to increased consumption because of the festivities and Diwali vacation.
