Justice Aniruddha Mayee of the Gujarat High Court observed that most schools in India lack J counselling facilities and the increased academic demands of the present times make students more susceptible to mental health. The HC said such issues have a detrimental effect on a student psychologically and emotionally which affects his academic performance while ruling in favour of a Gandhinagar-based student. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had prevented a student of Delhi Public School, Gandhinagar, from appearing for the SSC exam due to an attendance shortfall following some psychological illness.
