Is it The End for GTU's BTech in Gujarati?

Despite the All India Council for Technical Education's (AICTE) push for technical education in regional languages, Gujarat Technological University's (GTU) constituent college, Gujarat Power Engineering and Research Institute (GPERI), has failed to attract a single student to its undergraduate engineering course in Gujarati for the third consecutive year.

GPERI is the only college in the state offering bachelor's degrees in engineering in Gujarati. However, as per AICTE rules, courses with no students or fewer than 30% enrolment for three consecutive years must be discontinued.

An academic expert associated with the initiative observed, "While colleges may be working hard on AICTE mandates, industries should also be ready to offer jobs to these students."
