WHO said fairy-tales do not come true?
After scouring Europe for a top midfielder, Manchester City have seen Ilkay Gundogan fall into their lap.
Gundogan, 33, set his heart on a return as soon as Barcelona told him they would have to let him go to balance the books - and City manager Pep Guardiola has given the deal the green light.
Barcelona are releasing him on a free, with the Premier League champions offering him a oneyear contract with the option of a further 12 months.
Talks have advanced over the last couple of days.
Gundogan was not interested in offers from Turkey or Saudi Arabia because he knew City wanted him.
For them it is a no brainer, with the German possessing the football IQ Guardiola that demands from all his players.
