The judgment came in the case of a tax worker who sued HMRC when bosses sent her a birthday card after she said she did not celebrate it for personal reasons.
Kani Toure was off sick with work-related stress when she "clearly explained" she wanted correspondence kept to a minimum via email only. But colleagues sent the customer service consultant 11 emails in a month asking if she was "all right", plus the birthday card, the panel heard.
