Sir Keir: Video of MP punching man to the ground is 'shocking'

SIR Keir Starmer has described videos of a Labour MP punching a man to the ground as "shocking".

The Prime Minister claimed his party had moved "very swiftly" to suspend Mike Amesbury.

It was alleged that moments before the punch Mr Amesbury, 55, had been arguing with a constituent named last night as Paul Fellows, 42.

The two had been talking about plans to close a bridge for 33 days for engineering work, The Times reported.

Furious

Residents in Mr Amesbury's Runcorn and Helsby constituency are said to be furious about plans to increase tolls on the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges, connecting Widnes with Runcorn.
