Toyah: All I got for Christmas was arrested!

TOYAH Wilcox has revealed she was once arrested on Christmas Day after police officers caught her busking illegally in the capital.

The singer, songwriter and actress said she was encouraged by a friend to sing in public, but admitted it was a "disaster" because they had not rehearsed.

Toyah, a punk rocker at the time, gathered an audience of American tourists for the December 25 performance in Trafalgar Square.

But it ended in her and her friend being "escorted" to a police station.

The It's a Mystery and Thunder in the Mountains singer said after she was released she phoned her parents in tears, but could not get home and instead was forced to spend the festive night alone in her cold bedsit.
