'Wes crossed the line in opposing assisted dying'

LABOUR grandee Harriet Harman has hit out at her party's Health Secretary for publicly opposing assisted dying.

'Wes crossed the line in opposing assisted dying'

The peer said Wes Streeting has "crossed the line in two ways" primarily by making the "huge moral issue" about money.

She also slammed the Cabinet minister for revealing how he will vote on the crucial matter when it comes before Parliament on November 29.

MPs are being given a free vote, so they can follow their conscience.

The Government is supposed to be staying neutral.

Mr Streeting has cited concerns that end-of-life care is not good enough to ensure people make an informed choice, and that some could feel pressured into the decision in order to save the NHS money.

He has also ordered a review into the potential costs of a law change, warning that other NHS services could suffer if one is implemented.
