ANGE: EVEN SALAH WOULD STRUGGLE TO SHINE IN OUR TEAM

Spurs host Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tonight with up to 10 players still sidelined.

And after confirming yesterday that captain Heung-Min Son’s contract has been extended by a year, Postecoglou reckons his team’s difficult spell can be placed in context by imagining what would happen if the South Korean and Salah, both 32, swapped roles.

Son has just five league goals so far this season while Salah has already racked up 18 for the leaders.

By backing his skipper to emerge from a tough run of form, Postecoglou admitted: “Mo is a world-class player but if you put him in our team now, I’m not sure he’ll have that same level of performance because of the situation we’re in as a group.

“You need a team that’s in good form, creating opportunities, playing on the front foot, having a really solid foundation of a defence that is cohesive.
