A HEALTH service boss who almost died of flu has begged people to get their winter jab.

Jacqueline Totterdell made her appeal ahead of Friday's booking deadline for free NHS vaccinations.

It comes amid warnings of a "tidal wave" of flu with hospital cases up 70% on last week.

Asthma sufferer Jacqueline, 60, caught flu in December 2019.

She said: "As a nurse for more than 40 years I have seen my fair share of serious infections.
