I WON £2K IN POLL BET

CABINET minister Alister Jack allegedly boasted he won £2,100 betting on the date of the General Election as Tory gambling chaos intensified.

In the wake of the announcement on May 22 of the snap election, the Tory is said to have told a reporter about the winnings and talked about odds of 25/1.

He last night told the BBC his remarks weeks ago were a "joke".

In a statement the Scottish Secretary added: "I have never broken any Gambling Commission rules. I did not place any bets on the date of the election during May, the period under investigation by the commission.

“Furthermore, I am not aware of any family or friends placing bets.”

It came as Rishi Sunak finally ditched two Tory candidates yesterday over the scandal.
