BRITAIN'S oldest Christmas lights have failed to shine for the first time in more than 50 years after the bulbs blew.

The tree fairy lights, bought by Vina Shaddick from Woolworths in 1969, lit up for 54 years without a single bulb having to be replaced.

But Vina's son Ross Farr-Semmens, who inherited the £3 lights after his mum died six years ago, says they have now finally given up.
