BRITISH troops used in nuclear bomb tests were treated like lab rats for years after returning home.

Blood tests on those who took part in the Pacific experiments were repeated for over a decade after trials ended.

Some results were hidden at the Atomic Weapons Establishment for years and never entered into the men's medical records, denying them accurate diagnosis and compensation.

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham said: "This is clear evidence of human experimentation by the government on its troops. Thousands were treated like lab rats.
