THE family of a five-year-old boy savaged by an XL Bully-type dog say he has been scarred for life.
The lad was attacked at a house and bitten on his scalp and an arm as he visited with his mum on Monday.
He is recovering in hospital but will need surgery including skin grafts. His sister said: "We're distraught. Thankfully his injuries aren't life-threatening."
She backed a Mirror campaign to overhaul&nbsp;the Dangerous Dogs Act and said: "The size and strength of such&nbsp;breeds are exactly why laws were brought in. They should be enforced and those who disobey, punished."
The lad's mum said he is now "doing fine", but posted: "He had half his scalp ripped off and will be scarred for life." She hit back against those defending the dog, adding: "My son didn't even get in the room before it was on him.
"It took three adults to get the dog off him."
Police are probing the attack in Hull, East Yorks, and said the dog has been seized.
