AN elderly couple have died after being hit by a car as they left a church carol service.The pair, in their 80s, were struck by a Mini as they crossed a road to get back to their parked vehicle.Locals said the man and woman, who have not been named, were regular worshippers at the church.They had attended a carol service before they were struck at around 4.20pm on Sunday. Police said a male motorist, in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.Tim Bennett, warden of All Saints Church in High Kelling, Norfolk, said: "Everyone is devastated. They were regulars at the church and were very helpful and popular."The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Graham Usher, also offered his condolences. He wrote on X: "Deeply saddened about the deaths of this couple, who were a key part of their local church and had spent the day serving others."Prayers for all involved, and that the light of Christ's coming will illuminate their darkest hour."
