'At least let me rot in a prison in Canada...'

A MAN dubbed Jihadi Jack after leaving Britain to join the Islamic State has begged to be freed from prison in Syria after being held for seven years.

Jack Letts was 18 when he went to Syria in 2014. He was captured by Kurdish-led forces in 2017 and his UK passport was revoked in 2019, leaving him with Canadian citizenship through his father.

He has now pleaded to be allowed to leave Syria after being found by a television crew in a prison near Raqqa. He said: "At least let me rot in a prison in Canada."
