Blow for boss as Pole crocked in first game back
BRENDAN ROCKI HORROR SHOW

AYR UNITED......1 CELTIC......1

MAIK NAWROCKI suffered first-night pain on Celtic's return to action.

The Pole missed over four months of last term through injury and made just 14 appearances after signing last summer for £4million from Legia Warsaw.

With Liam Scales stepping in to cement a partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Brendan Rodgers scouring the summer market for more backline provisions, Nawrocki faces a battle to force his way back.

The 23-year-old's quest started badly as, handed a start as Celtic got back on the field after their summer break, the centre-back lasted just 19 minutes before being forced off with a calf knock. Nawrocki's misfortune was a disappointment and, replaced by kid Lenny Agbaire with Gustaf Lagerbielke not named at Somerset Park, the youngster's error allowed Ayr to earn a draw from the penalty spot through Anton Dowds.

Kyogo Furuhashi was soon into the scoring groove as he first took a spot-kick opportunity after Odin Thiago Holm had been felled.
