GLADIATOR RUSSELL'S HELP FOR STUNTMAN

RUSSELL Crowe has donated £5000 to help pay for an operation to save the leg of a Scots stuntman who he worked with on Gladiator.

The Oscar-winning actor became friends with Charlie Allan during filming of the epic movie in 1999 and the pair have remained in touch.

Allan, 61, who has performed in battle scenes in a string of Hollywood films, suffered a serious leg injury after falling 15ft while building a gym at his home in Denny, near Falkirk.
